WhamBangZoom is up and ready to go!

I've put the finishing touches on WhamBangZoom, so now it's ready for KGB to start blogging.

So the next steps are:

  • Create a list of acceptable topics
We don't want this to spiral into a blog about celebrity news, we need to stay on message!

  • Create a blogging schedule
Since almost everyone is pitching in to write this, we'll need a set schedule and some room for leeway - that way if someone really wants to write something timely they don't have to wait for their turn.

Meredith and I will start working on a list of topics and figure out scheduling.
So stay tuned...

What's the point of a blog if no one reads it?

There isn't much of a point if no one reads whambangzoom so we have to make sure we follow a plan that helps us gain readership.

One of the reasons we are starting to blog is to position ourselves as experts in our fields.  Each of us has a unique set of talents that we can educate the masses on.  Or, at least we all might have something semi-interesting to say.  I was looking around and found this article by Seth Godin (he's a great resource for info about marketing and the internet) so here are a bunch of great ideas about blogging.

Check them out, they'll help you brainstorm (mind-shower?)

Lesson 1: The weblog and it's intricacies..

So we've decided to start a KGB Advertising blog that is going to live at whambangzoom.com, the first question is what purpose does this blog serve.  It's easy, we are looking to find a way to easily promote the wonderful work our clients do and the work that we do for them.  So this will be a record of the things we do at KGB Advertising.  The great thing about the blog format is that it gives us the ability to add hyperlinks to all of our projects, press releases, site updates, and any other information that we find interesting.  So if Google releases a new product that would benefit our clients (or those we'd like to have as clients) we write a post about it and link back to the Google product 0r to a place we've implemented it.  The idea here is to make us more knowledgeable and to give us a way to share our knowledge with our clients (and those who will eventually be our clients.)

So getting down to the nuts and bolts.
We are going to shoot for at least one post a week.  That's not a lot, but it's enough for us to build up a useful repository of information.  We aren't going for fluff here, we want good useful info - and we always want to link back to the information we are talking about.

MC and I will work out a schedule of how this gets handled.  Her and I will moderate the whole thing, but each of us will play a role in writing the blog.  That not only lessens the burden of writing, it also allows us to focus on a wide array of advertising topics and issues.

Blogging in my blog about how to blog...

Since we are starting a KGB Blog I figured I'd use this space to post information on how we go about this.  So this will contain instructions, tips, ideas, inspiration, etc. so that we can more effectively use our blog http://www.whambangzoom.com
